Course Overview

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often misunderstood, trivialised, or misrepresented. This training course is designed to equip staff with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand, and support individuals experiencing OCD.

Through a blend of interactive learning, case studies, and practical strategies, participants will explore what OCD is, and how it differs from common stereotypes or casual misuse of the term, the meaning of obsessions and compulsions, and their impact on daily functioning, learning, wellbeing, and relationships.

This training course identifies different types of OCD and the diverse ways it can present, considers theories of OCD causes, including links with trauma and neurodivergence and ways to apply trauma-informed and neurodiversity-inclusive approaches when supporting individuals.

By the end of the course, staff will be able to challenge stigma, use accurate and respectful terminology, and adapt their practice to create safer, more inclusive environments for people with OCD. This is a level 3 accredited course.
